symptoms of stress and anxiety
Cognitive anxiety - Is being stressful from your mind loss.
loss of confidence )- This relates to my athlete which is neymar for example when neymar got injured in the world cup with a back problem , he lost confidence because he thought he wasn't going to be able to come back as the same player or come back stronger because it would take long for him to get stronger again.
negative thoughts )- This relates to my athlete because when neymar got injured in the world cup he was having negative thoughts about not playing football again and coming back being a bad player
images of failure )- This relates to neymar when he got injured because he thought that he wasnt going to recover to his best ability and also not come back and play again.
Somatic anxiety - Is when your being stressful physical responses
sweating )- This would effect my athlete for example if neymar was going to take a penalty in the world cup final he would start to sweat because he would fear in missing and its a big moment if he scores and if he misses the opposing team wins and this will effect him because if he misses he will never be forgotten about that
muscle tension )- This would effect neymar because if he's taking the last corner of the games and his legs are shaking because it could be a goal if its a good delivery and this will put pressure and tension on him.
vomiting )- This would effect my athlete because neymar might vomit before a game because the game ahead is the decider on who wins the league and a lot of pressure is on him and his team so this will cause him to feel sick over all the pressure and if he vomits he may not be able to play the game.
Behavioural - The physical acts of being stressed
biting finger nails )- This would effect my athlete because if its the cup final of the biggest cup in the league and my athlete would be in the changing room stressing about loosing resulting him biting his nails constantly because he is nervous about what is going to happen.
avoidance of eye contact )- In the cup final if neymar was going to take a penalty and its a tensional moment and the keeper is trying to put him off by giving him eye contact neymar would not want to look at his eyes because he doesnt want to show the keeper that hes not confident and look at where he is shooting because the keeper will see where he is going.
coving hand with face )- If neymar takes a penalty and misses and he knows its a big moment in the game he will put his head in his hands because he will be embarrassed and stress as the whole world will be watching him and fans will blame him for missing the penalty.

STRESS AND ANXIETY
Stress and Anxiety
- Internal is anything within you . For example illness, worrying, not having enough sleep and etc. This will affect my athlete because he is a perfectionist and if something goes wrong during a game for example a injury he will be worrying a lot about it.
- External is what goes on around you. For example The environment you find yourself in (noisy , too quite), major life events , day to day hassle. This will affect my athlete for example when fans are having a go at him because of the way he been playing and this will kill his confidence and also the travelling to games this will make him a less impact in the game.
- Occupational is causes of stress related to your job eg lack of satisfaction and unemployment. In a sporting situation would be having an argument with a coach , manager or been dropped from the team. This would have an impact on my player attitude and performance because he will get stressed as he not been playing games.
- Sports Environment is the importance and the specificness of the event your taking place (sports).the higher importance the thing your doing the higher amount of stress you will have. This will have an impact on my athlete for example at the final of a world cup this will have an massive importance because he will be playing for his country and this will put him into massive stress.
- Personal is the people who we care about such as friends and family. Lifestyle factors for example as money and health can also be sources of stress.this will have an impact on my athlete because if the media put something bad about him online this will effect his impact on games . Personal life stress for example having an argument with his dad before a game will make him not perform well during his game.
Arousal Theory
Arousal Theory
Arousal theory is the awareness and anticipation that prepares the body for a sports or any other activity.
Drive theory: This means at low levels of arousal, performance is low and performance increases in line with an increase in arousal.
This could impact my athlete performance when he is very excited to play a game hes arousal will increase and make his performance will be better by the higher amount of arousal.
Inverted U :Moderate level of arousal will give you a high performance . too high or too low levels arousal = to low performance.
This will have an impact negatively on my athlete because at time he may not be motivated to play a game and this suggests that if you have a low level of arousal your performance will be poor and also if my athlete is very excited to play this will also have an impact because you need to have an moderate level of arousal to give you a high performance.
Catastrophe: this theory is the same as the Inverted U theory when an athlete has a low cognitive anxiety which suggest that an athlete may be worrying too much. When cognitive levels are too high your performance tends to drop because you will start to lose your head .
This could have an negative effect on my athlete because he may be worrying about stuff outside the pitch and this will make an impact of his performance to decrease and this will also make him loose his head during the game, During a game my athlete can also be worrying about getting injured again so this will make his performance decrease as he is worrying and this is making his performance drop.
Individual zones of optimal functioning : Optimum performances is different for every athlete . Agrees with U that to high arousal= low performance.
My athlete needs to be on his zone for every game so he can perform at his best and this comes down to his motivation he needs to be motivated for every game to he reaches the best of his ability.

Stress
Stress
Eutress is the good stress you get and can leave you a sense of accomplishment . for example when neymar see stress as a challenge when he will take a penalty .
Distress is the bad form of stress for example anxiety ,nervousness , worry and apprehension , for example neymar a week before the champions league semi final he felt very nervous and started to think about whats going to happen.
Trait anxiety is a person personality and part of their behaviour , neymar is a type a Athlete so he gets very anxious before important games for example a couples weeks the semi final of champions league he gets nervous because he has a high level of anxiety .
State anxiety is the temporary mood change that is an emotional response to a threatening situation , there are two types of state anxiety :
Cognitive state : is the amount you worry for example when neymar was rushed into hospital when breaking a bone in his back .
Somatic state : your perception of the physiological changes for example now neymar body reactions changes he starts to sweat and starts to move away because he worries.
Motivation theory
Motivation Theory
Trait Theory - This is determined by your personality. For example neymar has a trait theory as we can see on his behaviour on and off the pitch .On the pitch we can see him doing step over all through his career . As well as off the pitch we can see that neymar is a happy character and loves his family . He always makes sure that he prays before each game and kiss his tattoos.
Situational -The is depends on the athlete motivational levels and the situation they are in for example Neymar is highly motivated on the football pitch so he can reach the best of his ability in the pitch to make a difference for his team.
Interactional - this depends on the person personality and who they are interacting with because their personality may change depending on who they are talking with for example putting Neymar with someone he dislikes so you need to put people in the right situation and environment so that the athlete can be motivated.
Achievement- comes from your personality and how much your driven to achieve success however this can be separated in two group category :
Nach needs to achieve - this is people that are driven by feeling of pride and satisfactions and they are also they always think positive that they gonna achieve something.
Naf they need to avoid failure , they are also driven not to feel ashamed or humiliated they also have a negative thinking. My athlete has more of a nach personality because he wants to win as much things as he can and he likes to take pride in what he does .
Attribution- is based on reasons we belief in the outcome and this breaks down to 1 of 3 categories:
Stability
Stable :When taking responsibility for a loss - Neymar took responsibility for brazil loss as he did not perform to the best of his ability.
Unstable: when you need to make excuses for your loss - for example when brazil lost at the world cup neymar made some excuses that our team did not have their best squad on the field.
Causality
internal : you are the reason of the outcome : for example when neymar works very hard the outcome is that he will have a good game to help out his team mates win games and score goals.
external: your opponent was the reason : for example when my athlete had a easy game was due to the opponent being weak and not at his best .
Control
controllable: is when you can control the situation. For example neymar trained really hard at free kicks during practise and he scored a goal the match from a freekick.
uncontrollable : is when you cant do nothing about it . For example when neymar was getting barged off the ball very easily and this was due to his opponent being bigger than him.

Merit
The level that my athlete plays does have an influence on his motivation as he is been watched at every minute of the game because he is an icon and a role model to many people and by being professional you have lots of responsibility and this motivates you to be at yours best in every game.
My athlete can use motivation to work harder in training to improve his game so that he can use on the match effectively and by being motivated he will give 100% in every training session and games and this will help his game to get better . He will use motivation to work on things that he hasnt been doing great and he will train without getting frustrated because of his motivation of getting better to perform in game.
When my athlete was dropped to the bench his motivation at training drop because he hasnt been playing for the last few games and he has also been having problems outside the playing field . My athlete also gets very frustrated during during when he practising something over and over again but he doesnt get it correctly this will frustrate him and bring his motivation levels down.
if my athlete do not make the team for an important match this will decrease his confidence levels and also motivations levels and this will impact him in training in the future and also on his performance however this will make him work harder and try make the team for the next game and make sure that he makes the team every game and be at his best for every game.
An injury will effect my athlete motivation in a positive way because he will be watching videos of himself and see where he could improve and he will be very motivated to come back to the field and able to make a bigger impact to games and help his team , however its can also be bad because hes motivations levels might be down as he is not playing games and he injure spot may hurt when starts to train again and play matches and this will make his motivations levels fall because he wont want to play or train in pain.

motivation types
●What
is intrinsic motivation? Intrinsic is when you practice a sports or do anything in life that you participate and enjoy.for example when i play football it fulfills me with joy when i play.
●What
are examples of intrinsic motivation? When you go to a football pitch and practice free kicks then you put it into a game situation you will feel rewarded and you will mentally feel great.
●What
is extrinsic motivation? There are two types of extrinsic motivations tangible award (trophies, record , money) and intangible (praise from parents, friends and fans). this happens when you do something for a reward.
●What
are examples of extrinsic motivation ?Tangible motivation will be winning the premier league and winning money for recognition and money for example boxers they only do it for the money.and intangible is when your doing something to get recognition for a family member or anyone else for finishing uni .
- Is your athlete intrinsically or extrinsically motivated and how might this impact their sports performance (positively and negatively) (Remember to use real life examples to support your answers) : My athlete is a intrinsic athlete as he is always out in the training ground practising his free kicks day in and out and this is a positive thing as he is getting much better at his free kicks however the negative bit is that he gets frustrated when he is out on the training grounded because he misses them quite often however with all them times he misses positively is good because it drives him to keep on going and achieve hes goal which is to score goals from a free kick in a match and he has been rewarded with a few goals.
personality types part 2
1) Neymar does not have a different personality to non athlete because outside the pitch he is very friendly and always up for a laugh however during games he personality changes as he becomes more competitive and has the mind set of winning as a professional as he used social learning because he has learned how to conduct himself on the pitch by looking up to a professional such as Pele ad Robinho who is very hard working athlete and now he uses that as a role model to other fan. Neymar also uses situational approach because hes personality has to be different to a non athlete on the pitch because he is a role role to many people they will be looking up to him as a non athlete doesnt have to conduct them self in a particular manner as they are not watched by many.
2) Neymar has a completely different personality trait then Sagna because neymar is an extrovert because he likes to seek attention during the pitch and play the game with happiness and flair and this makes him stand out from players when he is doing an skill to go past defenders where as Sagna is more of an introvert because he is more of quite player player likes to do everything very simple on the pitch and he doesnt talk that much and this makes him a lot different to neymar as he is always giving interview and showing off. By neymar showing off he gets attention and he loves to be in the spotlight and this makes him improve his game.
3)Neymar is a very type A athlete because he is more outgoing and loves to show off on the pitch and put smiles on people face and this improves his game because it makes him feel comfortable and keep on wanting to put smiles on other people face he differs a lot from a pool player such as Ash Fletcher with a type B where he is more quite loves to practice by him self and not very flashy and this improves his performance in his sport because you need to be very calm and accurate.
4) Neymar personality has been influenced by other players Such as the king of football Pele and also Robinho . Robinho has influenced neymar is many ways because he plays with a smile on his face with flair and always want beat defenders with skills and quick to create chances and put a smile on people faces and neymar adopted that style of playing and attitude because he becomes a better player when he puts a smile on people face and people cheer him on, Pele has also been an influence to him in his personality and on the pitch because of his desire to win trophies and become the best player he can be a reach success in the history of football and Brazil national team and always stay humble.
5)Neymar personality has not change much over time as he is a humble character and he main goals are to become the best he can be and achieve success for his country and club and put a smile on people faces when watching him play. Hes personality changed in a good way because he just wants to play his game beautifully and inspire people in and out the field and make kids enjoy football and play with happiness.
6)He has a type A personality which means that he is very active and is always looking for attention and this improves his performances because he gets the attention he looks for during a game by doing skills and also scoring and this gives him the boost in his confidence to do it again and this improves his performances , when he looses the ball he works very hard to regain it and this makes people applaud him and this makes hes confidence go sky high because he is putting a smile on the fan face and this motivates him . Too much attention sometimes may be a bad thing however neymar knows how to manage it very well and use it make his performance better and work harder to be more effective.
7) Neymar does like the aggression of some players so he may feel scared at times of getting seriously injured for example in the world cup 06/05/2014 when being knee on his back so now that has happened to him he will be scared to commit into tackles and feel scared against some players because he is afraid of something happening again.
8)Neymar is a role model to me by the way he comes across with great personality , always having a laugh and very humble , however the thing i would change about him is that he is mentally weak as he is scared of getting injured so this puts this performances down and this also knocks his confidence down and has a massive effects on his performances against big teams.
